Systematic reviews: Add full text PDFs to Covidence individually using LibKey

Finding and uploading full text PDFs to Covidence using Libkey Nomad (SVHM staff only)

The LibKey Nomad browser extension is a full-text discovery tool. When browsing online the LibKey icon links users to their Institution's full-text and open access content. Libkey links are automatically enabled within Covidence, but you can only see them if you have the browser extension. PDFs must be downloaded and uploaded individually using this technique. It is slower than finding full text in bulk using EndNote.

To install the Libkey extension:

Libkey "Download full text"

If Libkey finds a full text ready to download, the icon will show like this in Covidence:

Click on "Download PDF". You will need to download a copy to your computer, then upload it again to Covidence in separate steps. Libkey cannot download direct to Covidence.

Libkey "Access Options" links to prefilled request forms

If SVHM does not have a journal subscription Libkey may suggest other options. Click the "Access Options" link.

"Access Options" takes you to our catalogue, where you can request a copy of the article through the library's Document Delivery service (SVHM staff only). Clicking on "Request Journal Article" takes you to a prefilled request form where you only need to add your contact details and sign a copyright declaration. Submit the form and Library staff will attempt to source the article from a supplier. There is no charge to you. We will contact you if a cost is involved before proceeding.

Once you receive the PDF you will need to upload it individually to the correct record in Covidence.
